Race report from number one W.A Gun.

Hi everyone, Brent here

I’d just like to tell you all about the States held at Bunbury this year.

First of all I would like to thank the Bunbury Club for putting on a great meeting.

It was a pleasure to be at.

Our club had some success over the weekend with Wayne Davidson taking out the Pull Start title after Top Qualifying for the event.   I would like to make a special mention to Luke Davidson who had his dad cold and was heading to victory before a few mechanical dramas’ cost him and put him out of contention when running away with the race.

Paul Patterson dominated the Tourer over the weekend. Paul and Grub put on some great racing throughout the heats and swapped track records several times with Paul eventually coming out on top and Top Qualifying for the final, which he went on to win quiet comfortably and just had too much pace for everyone else.

The qualifying for the 8th was a tight battle between Paul Patterson and  myself with Paul Top Qualifying in the final round of heats with a record 10 minute qualifying time.   Paul and I had a great race in the 8th  final with Paul taking the lead at the start and pulled away for the first 5 minutes of the race.   After the first stop I began to gradually peg him back till I was right on his tail before I made a mistake at turn 1 which cost me a lot of time and I thought the race was pretty much over for me then, but over the course of the race I gradually pegged him back again till I was right on his tail once more going into the last pit stop where Paul pitted just before me and then shortly after that made a mistake going onto the back straight by clipping the barrier which appeared to do something to his steering servo which robbed us of a great finish for it would have been fought to the death no doubt.  I ended up winning the race from Rowan Delahaunty who put in a great drive for second and David Braun who finished third, a great drive from him seeing it was his first race meeting in 3 years.   (smart arse)

All in all the meeting was a great success and hopefully during this year we’ll see a few more of our members heading to Bunbury over the season to support a great hobby.

Nice report there Brent Thanks to all that attended. Congrats to all
